American Lung Association (ALA) Charity Seals

The American Lung Association (ALA) issues Charity Seals twice a year. U.S. Christmas Seals, before, or at Christmas, and U.S. Spring Seals, before, or at Easter.

U.S. Christmas Seals: The first Christmas Seals in the United States were issued by the Delaware Chapter of the American Red Cross. First issued in 1907 to save a small tuberculosis hospital in the State of Delaware. Thereafter, the seals were issued at Christmas by the American National Red Cross (ARC) 1908-1919, the National Tuberculosis Association (NTA) 1920-1967, the National Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association (NTRDA) 1968-1972, and American Lung Association (ALA) 1973 to the present. All listed U.S. Christmas Seals are identified by both their Green's Catalog Part 1 Catalog numbers, and Scott Catalog numbers.

U.S. Spring Seals:  U.S. Spring Seals are also Charity Seals issued by the ALA. The American Lung Association (ALA) has issued Spring Seals since 1987. They are usually issued in the first half of the year. The designs on the Spring Charity Seals are typically of spring or nature themes. All listed Spring Seals are designated by a "S" as part of their Green's Catalog Part 1 Catalog number. U.S. Spring Charity Seals are not listed in the Scott Catalogs.

Please Note: Effective September 1, 2015 and until further notice, we will donate 10% of all sales of U.S. Christmas Seals and U.S. Spring Charity Seals to the American Lung Association (ALA).
