| Cote d'Ivoire: The Republic of Ivory Coast is located in West Africa. Its bordering countries are Guinea and Liberia in the west, Burkina Faso and Mali in the north, and Ghana in the east. The Gulf of Guinea (Atlantic Ocean) is located south of Ivory Coast. Cote d'Ivoire comprises an area of 322,463 km2 (124,502 sq mi). The capital city is Yamoussoukro. The official language is French, with local indigenous languages also widely used. Cote d'Ivoire became independent from France in 1960. |
