1921 U.S. Christmas Seal Sheets by Flaws

Type 1: The dots of the red shading on chimney and faces are arranged in diagonal rows. There is a heavy red line between the two top rows of bricks.

Certain flaws will help to identify this Type:

Seal #36: a blue dot above the "1" of "19"

Seals #76 and 77: a green dot above and right of the cross

Seal #88: the cross is broken at the top

Seal #95: the cross is square at the top.

Type 2: The dots in the red shading are arranged in horizontal rows.

Type 3: Same as Type 1, but without the heavy red line between the top two rows of bricks. The red line is not always obvious; if measured accurately, the different perforation gauge may be a more reliable test.

Certain flaws will help to identify this Type:

Seals #1, 10, 47 and 92: the cross is square at the bottom

Seal #44: a blue dash between the "H" and "Y" of "HEALTHY"

Seal #49: a dent in the cross at top left

Seal #51: the lower arm of the cross is broken or pointed at the left
