As many of you are aware, there were updates and revisions of the U.S. Christmas Seals in the 2020 Scott Catalog. This was a long awaited update, as the last update appears to be in 1979. Why Scott waited so long to update the U.S. Christmas Seal section is a mystery to us.
A great job was done by everyone involved. Forty years of U.S. Christmas Seals suddenly appeared in the Scott Catalog. This is good in that those collectors who only follow the Scott Catalog, now became aware of the existence of additional years of U.S. Christmas Seals.
However, not all the U.S. Christmas Seals were listed. Many of the national seal sheet varieties, and their as required varieties were left out. Further, all of the test seal sheet varieties and their as required varieties were also left out. This can be difficult to correct if additional items were to be added for those older years.
Moreover, the catalog values appear to be low. Of course, this can be corrected in future issues of the Scott Catalog.
We suggest that you should consider purchasing a copy of Green's Catalog TB Seals Part 1 which catalogs U.S. Christmas Seals and U.S. Spring Charity Seals. Or, if you are only interested in U.S. Christmas Seals, the CS&CSS Society publishes The Christmas Seal Catalog. With either catalog, a collector will have the proper information available for collecting U.S. Christmas Seals.
